Welcome to the Music Department

The music department aims to offer as wide an opportunity as possible for all pupils to participate and, through participation, develop high standards coupled with enjoyment. It will also take place soon in a new custom built music room.

In Years 7 to 9, Key-Stage 3 all pupils will gain experience of performing, composing and listening in their 50 minute lesson a week. They will also work through topics on the following:- 

YEAR 7.

Bridging the Gap – to see where pupils are from Primary School.

Question and Answer – How music is made up from repeats.

Groups of the orchestra and main instruments.

Spring by Vivaldi.

Year 8.

Cover Versions – comparing old and new styles.

Scales.

Music from Other Countries.

Film Music.

Year 9.

Chords and their use.

The Blues.

Rock and Roll.

Pop and Dance music.

Welcome to the Music Department

The music department aims to offer as wide an opportunity as possible for all pupils to participate and, through participation, develop high standards coupled with enjoyment. It will also take place soon in a new custom built music room.

GCSE music runs for all pupils interested. It builds on knowledge accumulated in Key Stage 3 and develops from here. It does not matter if the child plays an instrument, as much singing is encouraged. This takes place with three 50 minute lessons a week.

Film Music.

Special Occasions.

Dance.

Orchestral Dates.

Pop Music from 1960’s onwards.

One composition based on a piece for special Occasions. The school uses Sibelius 3 for its ICT work. 

Enrichment.

Within school there is a regular guitar and singing group. On top of this Woodwind and Brass lessons are available to.

On top of this, every week Ian Kellet has a listening appreciation group and a extra singing group. This group performs in the community and support Music Vision. This group has had many performance opportunities including Birmingham.
